Abba Yahuah’s measurements are exact and precise. Throughout the Holy Scriptures we see specific measurements in the portable Tabernacle, in the building and furnishing of the Temple, and the New Jerusalem, to name a few. Throughout creation we can see His precision, ….in our wonderfully made bodies, and in nature. If one thing is off-measure, it could cause confusion, chaos, destruction, even death.
This precision makes me think of the following verse:
Psalm 119: 104
Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false (sheker) way.
- an untruth
- a fraud or deceit
On the other hand, I notice the word shekel. It sounds very similar to sheker, but shekel was a standard weight in ancient times. The two words are sort of opposites, yet are almost pronounced the same.
Exodus 30:23-24
23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
24 And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin:
1. probably a weight
2. used as a commercial standard
Job 28:24-25
24For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
Psalms 39:4
“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.”
Isaiah 40:12
“Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?”
Isaiah 43:10
10Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
Zechariah 2:2
“Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.”
Romans 12:3
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Revelation 11:1
“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.”
Revelation 21:15
“And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.”
Revelation 21:17
“And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.”
